FOLLOWING A SERIES OF MISUNDERSTANDINGS AND MISHAPS, IZZY IS NOT PERFORMING THIS WEEKEND. NEXT WEEK SEES 3 GIGS – MUSIC CAFE, TUCABIA SQUATTERS REST AND SOUTH GRAFTON FOOTIE CLUB DO.
The STARWAGON, renowned transport of the F.E. has been spitting out all its water. On recommendation of Fred from the Folk Art Shoppe, F.E. rang RADIATOR REPAIRS and Phil Bailey took a quick and expert look and diagnosed CRUNCH CRUNCH in the hoses. So today Starwagon is on its way back into South Grafton round the back land to have the CRUNCH attended to. Phil Bailey’s great aunt used to live in the old house beside the Ulmarra showground. The one which RTA pulled down. Oldest house standing in Ulmarra it was and RTA pulled it down with a vision of building a new road through thee paddocks. Pity their probes sank into the quagmire without touching bottom. The second house along is now condemned and can be taken away for free and F.E. remains in FOREALTY TOWERS and pays rent to the RTA in hopes of saving this one last house. Down at the ULMARRA PUB the other night, F.E. was reading the 2 Red Books put together by Ken and Kevin. Filled with photos and historical snippets they are. Tur5ns out the Towers was built in 1890. Anyways, into town now with the Starwagon and get the pipes cleaned out.
Some disputations with one of the Musical Cohorts could see big changes coming up for the rest of 2009.Today will see the next unfolding in this little episode.

FOREAL ENTERPRISES CELEBRATES ITS FIRST 3 MONTHS ON THE CLARENCE THIS WEEK. IZZY SET UP FOREAL ENTERPRISES IN THE YEAR 2000 – THE YEAR THAT THE G.S.T REGIME WAS FOISTED UPON HIM. SOME PEOPLE DON’T CONSIDER IT A FOISTING BUT IZZY KNOWS WHEN HE’S BEEN FOISTED. FOIST THINGS FOIST. IN THAT YEAR HE CHANGED HIS BUSINESS NAME FROM IZZY FOREAL AND THE EXTRAORDINAIRES TO FOREAL ENTERPRISES BECAUSE THE BAND NO LONGER EXISTED AND THE NEW BUSINESS NAME CREATED AN UMBRELLA ORGANISATION UNDER WHICH ALL OF IZZY’S CREATIVE ENDEAVOURS COULD BE MANAGED. IN 2006, IZZY MOVED F.E. NORTH FROM THE ILLAWARRA TO THE QUEENSLAND BORDER WHERE HE ACQUIRED THE SERVICES OF THE POLY-SKILLED NELLIBELL49. IN 2009, F.E. Izzy’s circle of friends has expanded on the Clarence and some exciting new music (as well as real nice people) has come into his Cafe Vibes act. At the Emporium Music Cafe, he came across KSM – Shaz and Karl Mullan – and liked them so well he took them North to Ilnam Estate at Carool for his July Sunday gig. Shaz is a lilting Irish singer and Karl, despite being an NZ is Izzy’s guitarist of choice as well as a songster in his own right. The Mullans invited Iz up for lunch at Busby’s Flat – thereby introducing him to the OLD TENTERFIELD ROAD. Another new experience for the Southern Man. |

NEGOTIATIONS with SOUTH GRAFTON EMPORIUM went off with a smile today over the top class food served there 6 days a week (Sundays excepted). IZZY FOREAL has been keen for a goodly while to continue with the IZZY FOREAL AND FRIENDS FORMULA which won the hearts and stomachs of the Jamieson’s Folk in West Tweed and the ILNAM ESTATE WINERY in Carool and which is so well suited to the Cafe Vibes Scene. Here on the CLARENCE is a true Cafe Vibes Scene at the SOUTH GRAFTON EMPORIUM. Set under an Arabian Bedouin Tent and located in the old CITY STORES building of SKINNER STREET. Charm and history combined with Izzy’s 21st SKIFFLE and Peter’s exotic array of fine foods look set to showcase the talents of Izzy’s Eclectic FRIENDS. Check here for dates beginning mid September.
F.E. is going into town (Grafton) to give Centrelink the last year’s financial figures so that they can give Izzy his $499 per fortnight. Izzy will be mailing off his workshop designs for the Clarence Community College and continuing (even though he hasn’t started it yet) the email PR Blitz of North Rivers Venues for the IZZY FOREAL AND FRIENDS SEMI-ACCOUSTIC SHOW. He will be looking for an accoustic guitar for his Grandson Jake. Izzy also will be continuing the task of making CHORD MUDMAPS for all his songs.

F.E. have been south to Bello taking a look at the setting up for the BELLINGEN JAZZ AND BLUES FESTIVAL. The ticket office was open in the park near the Council and Library and Vans of various styles were pulling in. Food and other products by the look of it. F.E. has the programme here and that includes Saturday Night street party like it used to be years back and Sunday Jazz in Jarrett Park. The Park looks a bit dodgy not having healed after the floods earlier this year but so long as rain holds off its looking OK. All the cafes and shops are open all weekend as well as the BELLINGEN MARKETS. Visiting the Daughter on the Northside FE could hear Jazz Musos warming up someplace near the Point on the River.

Just popping a quick mail to thank u for giving us great entertaining music in Sydney way back when the Zarsoff Brothers made us all laugh that much we were half pissing ourselves on the spot. Will never forget seeing you guys at Balmain Leagues. First thing we did was go and buy the album – “Rude Awakaning”. I still have it in great condition, must buy another record player one of these days & transfer it to disc. I left a message on youtube enquiring if you guys are getting together for a reunion here, but looks like you’ve moved on from the o’l Zarss band thingo. I see your’e playin up the coast; we’re due for a trip to QLD soon, will see if your floatin around on stage somewhere. Thanks again for the music to you & the boys, those “were” the days, we’ll never see it again, but will never forget them either.”

Ah memories! I 1st discovered The Zarsoff Bros’ back in ‘84. I saw them live at Parramatta Leagues Club in approximately 1989 (give or take a year or 2), & I own an original vinyl copy of the 7″ ‘Bumsweat and Other Popular Filth’ EP. Can’t wait for the reunion tour & hopefully you’ll play plentiful gigs in SE QLD.
As for being assigned (or is that “Arsigned”) a Zarsoff name, my nickname is “Chops” due to my Wolverine like mutton chop side burns, So perhaps an appropriate Zarsoff name for me might be “Chopy Zarsoff” (if not already taken). Cheers & thanks for the memories.

I think the last time I saw you was at a Motor Bike show, I’m a friend of Stix (Mad Gorilla), the Gorilla’s and Zarsoff’s played there and I wandered around with you and stix checking out the bikes. Still have my fully autographed copy of “Rude Awakening”. Love your work and I’d love to see the band again, any plans for Sydney gigs.

In my book, the Zarsoff brothers were a must see at the Sefton Hotel in Sydney’s western suburbs in the early 80’s. Excellent shows, nice drum work on the beer can Izzy.
